IMB ICC Alert- Chemical Tanker Crew Hijacked

  • Around 32nm SW of Bonny Island Nigeria

  • 05.03.2016: 0900 LT: Posn: 04:05N – 006:41E

  • Ten armed pirates in a black speed boat approached and opened fire at a chemical tanker underway.

  • They boarded the tanker using a grappling hook and ladder. Alarm raised and non-essential crew members retreated to the citadel.

  • After an hour, the pirates left the tanker with four kidnapped crew. The remaining crew members sailed the tanker to a safe port.
