Chemical tanker SOUTHERN FALCON was attacked by allegedly, Abu Sayaf militants, at around 1800 LT Nov 12 in position 159 nm east of Tarakan island, North Kalimantan, Celebes Sea.

Pirates were chasing tanker on small speed boats and, according to Tarakan Port authorities, tried to board tanker, but attempt was thwarted by the crew.
Vessel continued voyage to Gresik, East Java.
At 1420 UTC Nov 15 she was steaming in Java Sea.
Crew safe, tanker is in ballast, i.e. with high free board, which definitely helped crew to thwart the attack.
