Human Rights at Sea celebrates International Women's Day 2017

Today is International Women's Day. Fiona Laurence, the Chair of Trustees has commented:

“The theme of International Women's Day 2017 is 'Be Bold for Change'. Every individual, irrespective of gender, should take action to accelerate gender parity.

I am very proud that Human Rights at Sea has a focus on driving forward a Gender at Sea agenda to support equality for women working at sea, provide examples of best practice and to provide independent comment on the future of gender in the Maritime Environment.

The experience of women from a variety of sectors, not just maritime, on both the Board of Trustees and its Advisory Board, helps to shape and drive the HRAS agenda.”

Human Rights at Sea is an independent maritime human rights charity registered in England and Wales (No. 1161673) established for the benefit of the international community for matters concerning explicit engagement with human rights issues in the maritime environment. Its Mission is to explicitly raise awareness, implementation and accountability of human rights provisions throughout the maritime environment, especially where they are currently absent, ignored or being abused.
