1. UKMTO released two Advisories this week.
2. MV Lord Mountbatton reported a mother ship and skiffs in position 1403N 05135E, Ref ADVISORY NOTICE 004/MAY/2017. The Indian Navy investigated, vessel and crew are safe.
3. Due to increased reporting of skiffs in the vicinity of 14 41.25N 051 03.43E, ADVISORY NOTICE 005/MAY/2017 was issued. Whilst it was assessed to be normal pattern of life, it was considered prudent to advise shipping in order that they could exercise extreme caution in the area.
4. UKMTO Dubai convened the Maritime Information Exchange Vessel Operator’s Meeting (MIEVOM) at the Dubai International Seafarers’ Centre on 18 May 17.
The meeting was attended by 64 representatives from the regional shipping community and maritime security companies. Guest speakers were: Capt Tom Guy RN (DUKMCC), Capt Bret Sampson RAN (Dir Ops CMF), Cdr Sean Brady RN (EUNAVFOR LO), Cdr Steven Strange RN (Maritime Security Advisor, Yemen), Capt Robert Buckham (Head of MSEQ, DPA/CSO) and John Harris (ASKET Ltd).
Also in attendance was R/Adm Fukuda JPN, Commander CTF 151.
