1. UKMTO released two Warnings and one Advisory this week. 2. On 31 May a Marshall Islands registered oil tanker was attacked with small arms and RPG off Perim Island in the Bab-el-Mandeb straight. There is much media speculation surrounding this incident however, UKMTO in line with other regional authorities think it unlikely that this is a piracy related incident. It is thought that this event is most probably linked to the ongoing conflict in the Yemen, Masters and CSOs are therefore reminded of the guidance given to ships transiting the area in UKMTO Advisory 006/MAY/2017. 3. On 1 June another Marshall Islands registered oil tanker reported being attacked approximately 100 miles SE of Muscat. The ship complied with BMP4 measures and the crew and ship were later reported as safe.
