Three events have been reported to MDAT-GoG this week.

27/10/2017
IRREGULAR ACTIVITY
295°/34NM from Ana Chaves, SAO TOME & PRINCIPE
At 12:20ZHrs in position 00°41.8N – 006°03.6E, a merchant vessel reported 5 speedboats approaching her to a distance of 400yd. Speedboats were each fitted with 2 POB, wearing green rain coats. Due to high waves, speedboats stopped. The merchant vessel headed toward South Africa. No weapons or trip wires were sighted. MDAT-GoG Comment: This event refers to Advisory 003/OCT/17.

ATTACK
195°/21NM from Bonny, NIGERIA
At 09:25ZHrs in position 04°05N – 007°04E, a tanker was approached by two speedboats and boarded by two pirates. Two security vessels proceeded the vessel and the pirates fled north. MDAT-GoG Comment: This event refers to Warning 001/NOV/17

SUSPICIOUS APPROACH
180°/8NM from Lome, TOGO At 00:30ZHrs in position 05°59N – 001°14E, a tanker anchored near Lome reported one craft with seven masked POB. Vessel approached the tanker with intent to board. Togo Navy was called and a patrol vessel came into the vicinity. Tanker and Crew are SAFE. After patrol boat investigations, it appeared that the suspicious craft was a fishing vessel. MDAT-GoG Comment: This event refers to Advisory 001/NOV/17.
