UKMTO Weekly Piracy Report #piracy #marsec


1. This week UKMTO have issued no warnings or advisories.

2. In its primary role to inform, reassure and provide support to the merchant shipping on matters of regional maritime security, UKMTO personnel visited and briefed 982 ship’s crews in ports in the UAE during 2017. The UKMTO office in the British Embassy Dubai was visited by a total of 87 personnel from a variety of civilian and military organizations linked to Maritime Security, anyone wishing to visit us during 2018 can contact the Officer in Charge at dubai-oic@ukmto.org.

3. As part of its commitment to maintaining security in the region and in the interest of the safety of global, regional and local shipping, the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) confirmed this week that on occasion they do contact vessels entering and leaving the Bab el Mandeb straight. Their aim is to exchange information in the interests of developing a better understanding of the local maritime environment. For further information contact dubai-2iC@ukmto.org

4. On 28th Dec 2017 the UK Hydrographic Office released revised Maritime Security Charts (MSC) Q6099 and Q6111 incorporating the CMF Maritime Security Transit Corridor (a).
