Two events have been reported to MDAT-GoG this week.

21/05/18

Attempted Boarding

175°/140NM from Lome, TOGO

At 22:55UTC in position 03°46N – 001°30E, a merchant tanker was approached by a skiff with 7 men on board.

One man tried to board the tanker but was spotted. He then jumped back into its skiff and fled away.

GoG comment: This event refers to Advisory 003/MAY/2018.

23/05/18

Boarding

Lagos anchorage, Nigeria

At 23:10UTC in position 06°16N – 003°12E, an anchored merchant tanker was boarded by an intruder. Alarm was raised and then intruder jumped overboard and escaped in a skiff. Crew and ship are SAFE. GoG comment:
