This week UKMTO has issued no Advisories and no Warnings.

1. Yemen government forces backed by the Saudi led coalition supporting Yemen President Abdrabbuh Hadi have begun an assault on the Red Sea port of Hudaydah, the port is currently under Houthi control and is the main entry point for humanitarian aid for the country. The Yemen government has stated that they do not intend to attack the port’s infrastructure which is a critical lifeline for the millions of civilians facing famine in the country. The coalition has said they intend to establish a protected shipping lane to Hudaydah to provide the country with medical supplies, food, equipment and other economic support (articles a, b and c).

2. Between 6 – 8 June, EU NAVFOR in conjunction with ships and aircraft from a number of nations conducted a major counter-piracy exercise in the region (d).
