UKMTO has issued no Advisories and no Warnings.
1. The calling notice for the UKMTO Maritime Information Exchange Vessel Operators Meeting (MIEVOM) has been released. The event will take place in Dubai on 29 Nov 18 at the Dubai International Seafarers Centre (DISC) starting at 0830. Can I ask for confirmation of attendance to be sent to: DUBAI-OP1@ukmto.org .
2. This week the Western Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden has suffered the effects of Tropical Cyclone ‘Luban’ with strong winds and heavy seas affecting shipping throughout the region. The storm centre is currently 240Km South of the Omani port of Salalah (article a).
3. Piracy related crime has hit a decadal low in Asia. Despite this, the risk of boardings in other regions in particular the Gulf of Guinea (GoG) remain a concern (b). Information regarding the current situation in the GoG can be found in the MDAT-GoG Weekly report via the www.ukmto.org website. Meanwhile a recent report produced by the Armed Maritime Security Industry highlights the challenges and trends in the AST sector for the next 5 years (c).
