ATTACK

09/02/19

Parrot Island, NIGERIA

On Saturday 09th February 2019 at approximately 1230UTC, an MV (NAME WITHHELD) was attacked by armed men, numbers unknown onboard one speed boat close to Parrot Island.

MDAT-GOG-Comment: MDAT did not release an Advisory Notice or Warning Notice as the incident was assest as a criminal activity as it was inside Nigerian Territorial Water.

SUSPICIOUS APPROACH

11/02/19

260/60 NM POINTE NOIRE, CONGO

On Monday 11th February 2019 at approximately 2240UTC, an MV (NAME WITHHELD) in position 05°11’24S – 010°47’14E spotted two radar contacts (without AIS SIGNAL and lights) closing her position at 25 knts. At 2245UTC, the radar contacts manouvered, one came starboard side at high speed and the other stayed at 0.2 miles on the stern of the MV. At 2350UTC, when the MV was close to a meeting point with another MV, the two radar contacts altered their course and went away.

Vessel and crew are safe.

MDAT-GOG comment: This events was a time late report and no Advisory notice or Warning Notices were released.

THEFT

09/02/19

Monrovia Port, LIBERIA

On Saturday 09th February 2019 at 0340UTC, a robber managed to climb up on board of an MV (NAME WITHHELD) and stole cans of lub oil. Once spotted by the deck Patrol, he escaped. Ship and Crew are safe.

ROBBERY ATTEMPT

15/02/19

LOME ANCHORAGE, TOGO

On Friday 15th February 2019 at 0530Z, in LOME anchorage, an MV (NAME WITHHELD) was approached by a skiff with 5 persons onboard. They intended to board but the alarm was raised and TOGO Navy informed. The skiff escaped. A TOGO Navy patrol boat searched the surrounding area. Nothing was reported stolen. The vessel and the crew are safe.
