The United Arab Emirates said Sunday that four commercial ships off its eastern coast “were subjected to sabotage operations,” A statement from the UAE’s Foreign Ministry put the ships near the country’s territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman, east of the port of Fujairah. It said it was investigating the incident “in cooperation with local and international bodies.” It said there were “no injuries or fatalities on board the vessels” and “no spillage of harmful chemicals or fuel.”
Two Saudi oil tankers have suffered “significant damage” in an apparent sabotage attack off the coast of Fujairah, the Saudi energy minister has said. One of the two vessels was on its way to be loaded with Saudi crude oil from the port of Ras Tanura, to be delivered to Saudi Aramco’s customers in the US, state news agency SPA reported. The attack did not lead to any casualties or an oil spill but caused significant damage to the structures of the two vessels, said Saudi energy minister Khalid al-Falih on Monday.
13/05/19 Update:
The vessels include two Saudi tankers, identified by Reuters as the Amjad and the Al Marzoqah; the Thome Group-managed, Norwegian-flagged Andrea Victory; and a UAE-based bunker barge, the A Michel.
Photos of the Andrea Victory show a large gash on her transom, right at the waterline. Thome has confirmed that the Victory was hit by an object, and the crew are unharmed and the vessel's stability is not compromised

This attack could have been mounted in several ways, WBIED (WaterBonre IED, RPG, charges against the hull or planted on board, it is important to prepare crew to remain alert, have good situational awareness and to react in an emergency.
