Two events have been reported to MDAT-GoG this week.

ATTEMPTED BOARDING

30/06/2019

172/7NM off Lome, TOGO

On the 30th June 2019 at 2325UTC, a skiff with 6 armed persons approached the MV in order to board it. The crew alerted immediately the local navy and activated fire hoses on deck. The skiff aborted the attempt to board the MV when they noticed the alertness of the MV and the razor wires around it. Vessel and crew were reported safe.

MDAT-GOG comment: this events was a time late report so neither Advisory nor Warning notice was released.

THEFT 30/06/2019 220/7NM off Lagos, NIGERIA

On the 30th June 2019 at 0400UTC, two crew members have observed a boat with 3 POB alongside the MT (NAME WITHHELD) while it was at Lagos Offshore STS Area. All crew were alerted and a Naval patrol boat came to assist the MT (NAME WITHHELD). The boat escaped with 2 moorings lines. Ship and crew were reported safe.
