Six events have been reported to MDAT-GoG this week.

BOARDING
28/07/2019
171/24 NM off Calbar, NIGERIA
On the 28th July, around 1445UTC, a passenger boat (NAME WITHHELD) sailing to Limbe from Calabar was attacked by 7 armed men around the position 04°37'12N - 008°22'24E. They robbed the passengers and moved away to the creeks. Crew and ship were reported safe.
MDAT-GoG comment: This event happened in an area frequented by international maritime traffic.
However, due to the type of incident and its location inside the Nigerian Territorial Waters, it is classified as a Maritime Crime Activity.
ROBBERY
29/07/2019
Lagos anchorage, NIGERIA
On the 29th July, in position 06°25'56N - 003°20'56E at approximately 0310UTC, an AB has noticed the presence of 3 men armed with metal sticks on board the MV (NAME WITHHELD). Once spotted, they threatened and slightly injured the AB and stole his personal belongings. They tried to open the store without success and decided to flee away. The alarm was raised after the 3 men left the vessel. Crew and ship were reported safe.

ROBBERY
29/07/2019
Monrovia Anchorage, LIBERIA
On the 29th July at approximately 0330UTC, the duty AB spotted one man armed with a possible knife on board the MV (NAME WITHHELD). The alarm was raised and the robber fled away. The Liberian authorities are conducting investigations. Ship and crew were reported safe.

THEFT
26/07/2019
Lagos Anchorage, NIGERIA
On the 26th July, during a routine round at 0330UTC, the duty officer had noticed an unauthorised person jumping overboard with a hose. The alarm was raised and the crew mustered. The incident was reported to the Navy patrol boat in the vicinity. Ship (NAME WITHHELD) and crew were reported safe.

SIGHTING
29/07/2019
Onne Port, NIGERIA
On the 29th July, at approx 0142 UTC, a supply vessel (NAME WITHHELD) berthed at Onne Port (FLT), was approached by a canoe with 2 POB (no weapons visible). The officer on duty detected the canoe and raised the alarm. The AB on duty on the deck moved towards the direction of the canoe and the canoe moved away. Port authority was informed. Vessel and ship reported safe.

SIGHTING
25/07/2019
Lome Anchorage, TOGO
On the 25th July at 0215UTC, whilst at anchorage (06°03'35N - 001°17'36E), a duty officer noticed the approach of a FV with 6 POB and ropes inside the craft. He raised the alarm and the fishing vessel on hearing it moved away from the MV (NAME WITHHELD). Vessel and crew were reported safe.
