UKMTO Weekly Piracy Report #piracy #marsec @UKMTO

1. UKMTO has issued one Advisory (see Page 3) and no Warnings this week.

2. Vessel operators and ships masters are reminded of the need to make fully informed threat assessments before entering the Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman. Registering transits with UKMTO and remaining cognisant of the latest Industry, Government and Military guidance remains vital to mitigate against potential threats. In particular, ships are advised to consider taking transit routes that avoid entering or include close proximity to Iranian TTW.

3. On 19 Aug, the UK Department for Transport (DfT) released their latest guidance to Red Ensign Group (REG) shipping for transits of the Strait of Hormuz (SoH) and the Gulf of Oman (GOO). All REG ship’s CSO should ensure that they are fully aware of the latest Flag State guidance and that it is communicated in a timely manner to ship’s masters.

4. On 1 Sept CMF and EU NAVFOR released the latest Industry Releasable Threat Assessment (IRTA). IRTA 01 Sept 19 will be available on the CMF website at https://bit.ly/2Ibid85
