Two Events have been reported to MDAT-GoG this week.
SUSPICIOUS APPROACH
21st Sept
186/65 nm off Bonny, NIGERIA
On the 21st september at 0855 UTC, in position 03°25'39''N - 007°01'03''E, a tanker (name WITHHELD) spotted a skiff with 5 to 6 armed persons on board with a ladder. Skiff failed to approach and left the area.
THEFT
23rd Sept
234/11Nm off Lagos, NIGERIA
On the 23rd September at 0315UTC, an MV (name WITHELD) was in LAGOS secure anchorage, in position 06°17’24”N – 003°14’06”E, the watchman on duty noticed 2 men onboard and was threatened and the watchman raised the alarm. A Nigerian patrol boat came into the area. It has been observed that locks were broken and razor wire was also removed from the vessel.
