1. This week UKMTO issued one Warning (see page 3) and no Advisories.
2. 17 Nov 19, a Saudi flagged tug towing two South Korean flagged vessels was boarded and detained near to the Yemen port of Hodiedah. The vessels were held by Houthi rebel forces at the port of Salif. All three vessels were release on 20 Nov and the crew and vessels are safe. This incident highlights the risks to shipping that transit close to the Yemen coast line. Unless absolutely necessary, ships are advised to transit the Southern Red Sea/Bab al Mandab Strait as far West of the Yemen coast as possible using the Western Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) around the Hanish Islands (see article d).
3. The final Agenda is available for the UKMTO Maritime Information Exchange Vessel Operators’ Meeting (MIEVOM) to be held in the Dubai International Seafarers’ Center (DISC) on Thursday 28 November 2019. If you would like to register and receive the agenda please send your details to LH Roy Cadman at dubai-op1@ukmto.org.
