Highlights:
The 2 events reported in the Singapore Strait last night will be mentioned in next week's Weekly report.
PIRACY / ROBBERY:
3 reported piracy events, including 2 outside the reporting period:
1 Sea Theft on a cargo ship en route off Kandla, India.
1 attempted action on a bulk carrier at anchor in Visakhapatnam, India;
1 kidnapping of 12 passengers on a ferry off Karkar Island in Papua New Guinea;
Total of 86 events in the IFC area of responsibility since January 1, 2019 (compared to 149 in 2016, 119 in 2017 and 99 in 2018), despite a significant increase in events in the Singapore Strait (20 in 2017, 21 in 2018).
Irregular Human Migration
: A ship with 172 Rohingya migrants on board, en route to Malaysia, was seized near Kawthaung (Burma).
