Highlights:
7 reported piracy events, including 2 outside the reporting period (20/12), all carried out on ship en route and in the Singapore Strait and its approaches:
6 acts of brigandage, all on ships under way, on 3 tankers, 2 bulkers and 1 barge;
1 attempted robbery on a bulk carrier.
Total of 93 events in IFC area of responsibility since January 1, 2019 (down / previous years: 149 in 2016, 119 in 2017 and 99 in 2018), but with a consequent increase in robbery events in the Singapore Strait ( 20 in 2017, 21 in 2018, 45 in 2019).
Another event was reported on a bulk carrier at anchor in Panjang, Indonesia (05 ° 30.03S - 105 ° 17.05E), on 12/11 at 03:25 LT. This event will be published next Monday in the IFC Daily Brief and then in the next CRH. Three thieves armed with knives boarded the ship and broke into the engine room. The thieves stole many spare parts from the auxiliary engine and then escaped.
