Attempt Boarding

Bay of Owendo (Gabon)
An MV had an attempted boarding by 5 or 6 people in position 00°19’59N/009°23’07E. When general alarm raised, pirates aborted the attack and approached another vessel at anchor and sailed out of the channel.

IRREGULAR ACTIVITY

185/San Pedro/205Nm (Ivory Coast)
An MV was approached by a suspicious boat in position 01°17’00N/007°17’00W.
MV changed course and increased speed, the suspicious boat continued heading towards the MV and closed to within 3.2 Nm. After one hour suspicious boat reduced speed and left the area. Crew and vessel reported safe.
Hijacking
220615ZDEC19 300/Libreville/38Nm (Gabon)
An MV was attacked by 8 armed personnel during its transit from Douala to Libreville in position 00°55’00N/009°01’00E . Communications were lost for 2 days.
On 23th December 2035UTC pirates left the vessel 10Nm off fairway buoy of Wouri (Cameroon).

Two fishing vessels were attacked by an unknown number of pirates in position 00°19’30N/009°23’42E.

A cargo ship was attacked by an unknown number of pirates in position 00°22’33N/009°23’42E.

230/Bonny/230Nm (Nigeria)
An MV was attacked by a skiff with 9 armed pirates on board in position 01°47’00N/004°28’00E. MV increased speed and after 30 minutes skiff left the area. Crew and vessel safe.
