1. On 10 Jan 2020 the UK Department for Transport (DfT) issued revised Maritime Security Guidance for British flagged ships operating in the Arabian Gulf. DfT Ref 2020/03 refers.

2. On 6 Jan 2020 the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) released guidance to U.S. commercial shipping. U.S. Maritime Alert 2020- 001B: Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean -Threat to commercial vessels from Iran and its proxies. 3. Two incidents took place this week involving suspicious approaches on vessels in the vicinity of point A of the IRTC, Gulf of Aden. In both cases ships were approached by skiffs which after further assessment are thought likely to be Pattern of Life (POL) encounters linked to fishing activity.
