Three events have been reported to MDAT-GoG this week.

Maritime Crime Activity
Attack
30/01/20
016/3NM off Limbe, CAMEROON
On 30th January 2020 around 0940UTC (03°58N - 009°08E), one speed boat with 6 or 7 armed men has attacked one local trading boat in the vicinity of Limbe. The local authorities launched an operation to localise and arrest the perpretrators.
MDAT-GoG comment: This event is a local criminal act which did not impact the wider maritime community.
Theft
25/01/20
Lagos Anchorage, NIGERIA
On the 25th January at 0050UTC, while at Lagos anchorage (06°16'55N - 003°19'32E), a duty patrolling crew noticed an intruder on main deck of an MT (NAME WITHHELD). Once discovered, the intruder jumped over board and escaped in a small boat. A Navy patrol boat was dispatched to investigate the scene. Ship and crew were reported safe.

Theft
29/01/20
Berthed at Onne Port, NIGERIA
On the 29th January at 0300UTC, while berthed at Onne Port (04°41’30N – 007°09’50E), an MV (NAME WITHHELD) has been boarded by one man who collected some items on the deck. Once spotted by the watchman, the alarm was raised and the intruder managed to escape in a canoe manned by another man. Ship and crew were reported safe.
